We are truly spoiled when it comes to food In West Cork and the superb quality of the local ingredients around us. Being right on the Atlantic Ocean, we are guaranteed the freshest of seafood in almost every pub, cafe and restaurant in the area. Our local food culture values seasonal produce, locally grown, reared or foraged, prepared simply but with imagination. Our favourite places to eat are the ones that let the quality of the ingredients be the star of the show.
DeDe, Customs House Baltimore
this Michelin star restaurant is a fabulous experience. Chef Ahmed Dede takes inspiration from his Turkish heritage and creates the most delicious and innovative dishes using the best West Cork ingredients. The Tasting Menu matched with wines is the ultimate treat when you visit West Cork.
The Chestnut, Ballydehob
Michelin starred and just a sublime West Cork food experience. With only 18 seats, you need to book well in advance but it is worth the wait. Chef Rob Krawczyk and his partner Elaine Fleming have turned this former country pub into one of Ireland’s leading restaurants.
Kirbys at The Whales Tail, Clonakilty Distillery
Bistro style food, focused on local ingredients. Located within the distillery, its a great place to combine a whiskey or gin tour with a very tasty lunch or dinner.
The Lifeboat Inn, Courtmacsherry
Sit in the waterfront garden on a summers day and you won’t find a better seafood platter or wine list! A bustling Gastropub, great for lunch and dinner 7 days a week.

Dunmore House Hotel, Clonakilty
With stunning sea views and a choice of very tasty bar food or the Adrift Restaurant (Michelin recognised), nearby Dunmore House Hotel is a favourite with ourselves and our guests.
Camus Farm Field Kitchen, Ardfield
Located less than 10 minutes from Dunowen, this innovative farm to fork restaurant prepares its own seasonal vegetables and meat in a unique banquet style setting.
The Fish Basket, Long Strand
Walk the dunes on this stunning 2 mile long beach right on the Wild Atlantic Way, then enjoy delicious fish & chips, fish tacos, coffee & sweet treats from a table overlooking the sand and rolling waves.
Hayes Bar and The Glandore Inn, Glandore
These two coastal bistro pubs are worth visiting just for the stunning views alone but the excellent food on offer makes them unmissable. While many of the restaurants above are also pubs, we recommend a visit to these favourite locals in Clonakilty!

An atmospheric traditional pub famed for its live music and large wall of memorabilia dedicated to Noel Redding. Noel played weekly session in DeBarra’s for many years.

"A Magical West Cork Escape"
We stayed at Dunowen House for a long weekend and genuinely didn’t want to leave. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty of the house and its surroundings – the views, the gardens, the quiet… it’s pure magic. The house itself is full of character and history but still feels incredibly cosy and luxurious.
We loved having our morning coffee overlooking the sea and strolling down to the nearby coves. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Clonakilty is only a few minutes away too, so we had some lovely meals out and picked up bits from the local markets.
